As all of you that are in the business now things aren't always as easy as people tell us when it comes to bring in a lot of money or owning a beauty salon business.

And I certainly don't want to give you the wrong information, that this article is all you need to really succeed. But these are foundational, and you have to put these to work with your business to build a career.

These are certainly some of the more significant areas to focus on:

1. Develop your skills - This is the primary premise that you have to continue to keep learning all the latest skill sets that helps you to continue to be tops in your profession. Continuing to educate yourself will breathe life to all of you that won't stop doing whatever it takes to achieve success.

And it's really not important what kind of work we do ... all of us should aim to keep our fires hot. And that means being hungry for ways to keep ourselves current with all the various things going on in our industry. Not one of us claim to be great right out of the gate, we've got to continue to work so we can expand our craft on a regular basis.

2. Develop your customer service Skills - A lot of us only think how much money we can make without thinking how we need to make completely sure that our customers are getting all that they deserve. The best way to grow your assets is to make sure that your customers are more than satisfied first. Zig Ziglar who most of you already know as a successful businessman said, 'When you take care of your customers needs they'll take care of yours.'

So one of the crucial keys to success is making sure that your clients are in love with what you do to them and for them. I mean you have to make sure that you're doing not just what they want but giving a little extra so you can be assured that they'll want to come back and see you for a long time to come.

3. Develop you giving extra - This is really a straightforward philosophy ... always give more. There are so many extra little things that you can give to your customers that I couldn't even begin to list them all here. But here's a few of the obvious ones to bring to your attention:

a bottle of water

a cup of coffee or tea

a cookie or buy a muffin in the morning and cut it up into some small bit size pieces and pass them out to your first 5 customers.

In the afternoon make some popcorn and get some small paper cups and give a half-cup to your customers.

Network with some other local businesses like a car wash or oil lube place to give away a free oil change once a week. They get a potential new customer and you provide some extra freebie for your customers. You can even do a drawing to decide who the lucky winner is.

4. Develop your marketing - All legitimate marketers will emphasize the same thing, never quit learning how to market you or your business better.

Marketing is not a bag of magic beans that you plant one time and voila ... it pops up and matures into a thriving business.

Marketing is not a magic staff that you wave and you're automatically successful.

Marketing is strategy that you employ to formulate a step by step procedure that methodically increases your customer base and grows your income.

Marketing is essential to you being successful in your business. Without you performing a solid marketing plan you will be one of the many that just makes a living and never actually builds a business.

5. Develop your ability to make money - Okay, did you get into this industry to make some money? Then you will have to go to work on all the ways to accomplish it.

How many different ways do you promote to bring in more money?

Do you have a detailed plan to attract more clients?

Do you have a method set up to sell more products?

Do you have a networking program established that helps you to meet and develop relationships with folks that will become your clients in the future?

Do you already have a customer service policy that insures your clients will never go to another hairdresser?

This is feasible and should be implemented to build an extraordinary beauty salon business.
